History

It all started in 1977 when Nora Parsons, a retired district nurse, realised there were many older people in her area who spent much of their time alone, who would benefit from some company in a safe and comfortable environment with similar folk, with a chance to chat over a cup of coffee and enjoy a meal in the company of others. With the help of friends and volunteers, and the support of Canon Bartlett, then the Vicar of Wichenford, the care centre was established, first in the Village Hall, then moving to the current building when the village school closed. The centre is run entirely by volunteers. There are currently around 20 members attending the Centre.
